Spartan Families and Students,

STAY TOGETHER

Welcome back to Maine-Endwell High School for the start of an exciting new school year! I hope that your summer was filled with relaxation, adventure, and memorable moments with loved ones.

Our commitment to excellence remains steadfast, and we are dedicated to providing a supportive and engaging environment where every student can thrive. Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, you are an essential part of our school community, and we are thrilled to have you here.

One of our most important goals at Maine-Endwell High School is to reduce the number of daily absences and tardies to school.  Since the pandemic, schools nationwide have seen the number of chronically absent students dramatically increase.  In order for our students to fully excel and get the most out of their high school experience, we need to bring our numbers back to pre-pandemic levels.

Tardies

It is paramount that students arrive at school on time each day.  Our instruction starts with first period at 7:40 AM at the high school.  There is no homeroom, so when students arrive late, they are often missing important instruction that will negatively impact their academics.

Parents:  If you are dropping off your child, please make sure that you arrive at school prior to 7:35am.

Student Drivers:  Make sure your car is parked in a lot prior to 7:35 AM.

In order to make it to class on time, you need to be walking through the doors at 7:35 AM.  If students are walking into the building after 7:35 AM, they are not going to make it to class on time and be prepared for first period instruction.

Absences

We understand that there are various reasons why a student might be absent from school.  Unless it is absolutely necessary, we need students in school everyday.  At the high school level, it is very difficult for a student when they are absent from school.  The missed instruction and owed work creates academic challenges for students and often increases anxiety levels.  Additionally, when students are absent from school they miss out on social connections and extra-curricular activities that are an important element of the high school experience.  With that in mind, we encourage students to get involved at the high school in some way.  Whether that be, playing a sport, joining clubs, or participating in our arts and music programs.  Typically, when a student is involved and connected to these offerings they tend to miss less school.  Below, you will find a list of different activities students can join to get the most out of the high school experience at Maine-Endwell.
