TUESDAY - With the first day of school roughly one month away, our incoming middle schoolers took time to find their potential classrooms today. Student were given maps, and worked together with their classmates to locate each room listed. Our goal is to familiarize our 6th graders with every aspect of the building, so finding their teachers won't be a challenge come September.
In math, it was all about creating our own planets, using special calculations to determine gravity relative to earth. Each student was tasked with using a special formula to find out if their planet had more or less gravity, while figuring out how high they'd be able to jump, in relation.
In art class, it was all about celebrating our names. Students were given a sheet of paper, and used colored pencils to design each letter specific to something they enjoy. Letters were filled with everything from sports to snakes!
But our students' smiling faces weren't the only ones walking the halls on Tuesday. Our therapy dog Winston met with classes, as our teachers focused lessons around conflict resolution and the importance of mental health.
We are confident these enriching lessons will help shape well-rounded 6th graders for the fall!
