Four years ago, the Broome-Tioga BOCES in partnership with several major corporations from across our region, developed the “App Challenge” competition. The App Challenge’s main goal is to engage students, as well as help them pursue careers in coding or computer science. Through the contest, the teams learn problem-solving and engagement skills, as well as gain an understanding of issues facing their / our communities. Winning teams represent their communities and compete nationally.
Through the leadership of Briana Burghardt (Middle School), Maine-Endwell has been highly successful in the contest. On Thursday night 3/21/24, four Maine-Endwell Middle School teams were honored for their achievement of taking 4 of the 5 winning spots in both counties. The Congressional App Challenge will be held this summer and fall in Washington DC.
If we have students who are interested, motivated, and driven to learn, be creative, problem-solve, etc., then we need to promote and celebrate these activities and keep the gas pedal on them!
